I’m doing some posts on instagram (despite basically no views but who cares at this point) on the various ways a bad influence will attempt to extract wealth from you.
Although it’s usually not just wealth, but time, attention, even joy. It’s essentially energy that is being pulled out of you in some form or fashion.
But I digress.
This one is about the topic of scarcity. More specifically false or contrived scarcity.
I know it’s true that things can be scarce and it is simply a fact of the situation.
Say toilet paper is under extreme demand (an absurd hypothetical I know) and the retailer decides to advertise that there is barely any left and you better buy it know if you want it.
Can we really consider that bad or harmful? It’s almost a real service to let me know it’s running out.
I’m talking about what you see mostly online, which is pretending supplies are limited when they are in fact not. This is just not good marketing. It might often work but this isn’t what marketers should shoot for. As a consumer, you know this happens all the time. Just don’t be swayed by it.
Join my email list and keep a look out for my 30 Day Manipulation Detox course I’m working on. It’s a structured course that will practically immunize you from the marketing and attention seeking games being played on you every day.
